Outdoor Spritual Areas

In our school grounds, we have areas where children and adults can reflect, be still and pray. These have each been developed through time and are very special to us. We have three main areas outside: The Folley, The Tree of Reflection and The Spiritual Area Corridor. Children use these during playtimes and throughout the school day - either on their own, in a small group or for a mindful minute with the whole class. The signposts for these special areas were designed and created by our children.

THE FOLLEY (Our Spiritual Garden)

The Folley was created using bricks that were transferred from our old school site on Milton Hill. It was officially opened in 2018 by Ven Adrain Youings, the Archeacon of Bath with a service - each child decorated a pebble with their name on to place around the centre piece.

THE TREE OF REFLECTION

This tree sits at the far side of our open field. The bench around it was built by one of our parents and the mosaic sign was designed and created by Hatty (Y4).

THE SPIRITUAL AREA CORRIDOR

This area is very special to us and is our most established outdoor place of reflection. The wooden cross, depicting our school's core values, was erected in 2012, shortly after our new building work was complete.  Within this area also sits Mary's bench - in memory of a special girl, Mary, who came to our school.  Commemorative poppies also adorn the wall and pebbles have been placed by children who have come to be still, reflect and pray.
